ENGINEERING DATA FOR RIGHT ANGLE UNITS

HORSEPOWER AND TORQUE TABLES
The horsepower and torque tables, shown with each unit throughout this online catalog may be used to determine the load capacity for horsepower versus unit life. There are two listings given in these tables: Agricultural and Industrial. The agricultural ratings were derived from the gear set rating, in combination with a *B10 bearing life of 750 hours. The industrial ratings were obtained as above with 5000 hours life.

*A B10 life is the amount of hours of life when 10% of the bearings will fail if the unit is operated at its fully rated capacity.

TORQUE RATING VERSUS UNIT LIFE
The torque figures listed in these tables are the maximum operating torque for which these units are rated. The standard torque formula used in calculating all horsepower and torque ratings in the catalog is listed below:

STARTING TORQUE
The peak or momentary load, which occurs when the gear box is first started, should not exceed the rated capacity of the unit by more than 250%.

INPUT SHAFT
The high speed shaft is considered to be the input shaft in the ratings listed in these tables. In a ratio box, if the input is on the low speed shaft of the unit, care should be taken to rate the box at the rpm of the high speed shaft.

LOAD FACTORS
The ratings listed are based on Class 1 load conditions. A Class 1 condition assures that the application where the gearbox is used is free from all shock loading and is based on the unit operating continuously for ten hours of daily use. For any load level other then Class 1, multiply your applications design horsepower and torque by the load factor indicated.
